No star review, a negative star review if I could. Nothing but attitude from an employee who wouldn't even look up as I was standing in front of him at the counter, he clearly didn't want to acknowledge me, and when he did, I stated what was needed, his response was we don't have it. When I found what I was looking for I showed him, his response was that I said I was looking for something else (not true), so I just walked away. I asked to speak to the manager, told what happened, but I will not be back to that store ever again. It wasn't even so much about what he said so much as the attitude.
Went in to buy a door lock and and have it re-keyed. I'll make this a short rant, but it really was a very odd experience. I picked out a lock in the store. Then I went to the guy at the key counter and he said they could do it, but not him. Then another guy strolled up and said "he'd give it a try", since "Gary" wasn't available. Finally, Gary came to the counter, took the lock to another part of the store and I assume was re-keying it. Anyway, it took easily 20 minutes, probably 30 minutes from that point, with no explanation of why it was taking so long or whether my key was the problem, etc. I started strolling other aisles AFTER 20+ minutes as I was getting bored waiting and small-talking with the sales guy at the counter. I returned to the key counter, and a 4th employee asked me if he could help, I told him I was waiting for a lock to be keyed, he pointed to the counter and asked "is that it?"....it WAS. The original salesperson was just standing behind the counter and never said a word to me. Finally, I grabbed the box the lock was in, and there was a ticket for a $12 labor charge. No explanation at all. Gary was nowhere in site. The original sales guy offered nothing verbally. In fact, he acted like I should have known my lock was ready, when he knew full well that I had been waiting in the store a long time. This all occurred from when I entered the store just after 5 pm Sunday to almost closing time at 6 pm.
Nice store, plenty of salespeople and lots of unique items. Obviously, they've been in business forever and know what they are doing. BUT, I just had a strange experience in their PVB store.
Again, I like the store and I'll go back, but just weird customer service, if you ask me. I won't be buying any more door locks there, that's for sure.
The most helpful staff! Always find what I need there. Great garden shop too.
I love this store! I like having a small neighborhood store near by. One of my fav places to shop for garden supplies and boy do I! I'm in there once a week and love all the improvements they have made over the years. Kudos to Proctor!
Don and Zack were great helping me. Very helpful and friendly staff.
